Revise and colored

This is my color version of samus. She is in space floating on a falling meteor

This my revise version of samus. I did her armor and her orginal arm did not fit with the armor piece, so I copy her left arm and place it on the right.

The Leg

I finally got the leg ready

Samus Again

This is my Samus character, but I redid her from scratch. Here are some of the different styles I was going to use. All of them (except the top last one) had a foot alter.
(Top left to right)
  1. This one had on a different pair of jeans on, to give it the effect of somewhat army pants (but those was the only type of pants that fit her)
  2. I gave her a fishnet arm sleeve that is conected to the shirt in order to give her crazy looking shirt.
  3. This one is the orginal. The base for all of these
(Bottom left to right)
  1. this the one I was going to do, until my teacher said it would be intresting to do the orginal one (my first one)
  2. I duplicated the left arm and placed it on the right (i kinda suck at hands)
  3. I like this one because of the folds and it seems to be easier to shade in. But some how something told me to do the the first one on this list.
  4. This by far is the funniest to me because of the shirt and its effect on the body.
  5.

Vactioning at a Con

Both Jasmin and Ross were both are vactioning at Comic con of sorts. So they won't be back for a while.
On a side note, I came across thes free software and/or online converters that can turn pictures/drawings into oil paintings

Kevin Radthorne

As I was studying his work/techniques, I picked up on a few things. I know the last I spoke with him, he told me that he uses DAZ studios and some photoshop. I didn't get it until I came across this: "I usually apply a reflection map to the character's eyes, and sometimes, if they need a little more beefing up, I'll add a bit of extra highlight in Photoshop." He maybe using DAZ studio Genesis and in photoshop, create some of the backgrounds and for his chacthers/people, he do some of the following
While I was looking at a DAZ studio tutorial , that program ironically reminded me of a updated version of iclone. But not getting off track, it seem like (by judging by this video) DAZ studios is way easier than Zbrush (well that my opinion). Here are more DAZ3DCOM youtube.
Also, (it just done on me) he does mainly fantasy and scfi, and his females are either one of three things
  • wearing very skimpy clothing
  • semi- naked
  • very tight clothing.
He does have some that are flowing, as well. But I like how he capture different minorities facial features and body muscles as well (though, he could be diversed in that department). Here is another site with his work on it.

Ross Campbell

My next artist is Ross Campbell. Like Kevin Radthrone, had wrote books as well. But Campbell leans a little more onto the anime(ish) side, while Kevin is more CGI/digital. I know some people don't like the anime style, but, I like how he draws his chacthers; espically the plus size ones. Most comics and/or artists draw plus size (I say that because fat is insulting) chacthers and african american chacthers unfairly, to the point where they look like monsters. Campbell draws his heavy set chacthers very soft, even their rolls and bulges are soft compare to other comics where you see them, you be totally gross out.

It look like he used some type of manga drawing software. Only ones I came up with are Manga Studio EX Software and/or TOKYOPOP Manga Creator(well, that one would make sense because Campbell did work for Tokyopop for a while, until they try to screw him over and the he quit).

I know I won't do any anime/manga stuff, but I thought body wise, is very interesting. But face wise, I could draw reference here.
  1. The Perception Laboratory's Face Transformer
  2. Real photo into an image
Pretty much a cheat sheet in making drawings (and seeing yourself as another race)

Photoshop technique

I know that two of my artist is painters (but still manage to get their work online perfectly) and painting is not digital art (per se). But I went on www.photoshopessentials.com and found two ways that was amazing:
  1.  Turing a photo into a sketch image
  2. Turing a photo into a oil painting
  3. Turing a photo into a watercolor painting
I know their version is kinda cheesy in a way but, I can tweek it a little. SO, I can take simple picture and turn it either into a painting or a sketch. Neat huh? I don't need paint at all.

Also, I found out that DAZ studios is a combination of Maya, photoshop and (ever so popular) Zbrush.

Not suppose to, but...

Here are some of my previous drawings. I put part two to this either today or tomorrow. Also, whenever I get a chance. I will put a cleaner verison of these later.

Ross Campbell

Ross Campbell is my second artist. Even though his work comes off animeish, I love the fact that he draw his characters all shapes and forms in a non discriminatory way. It look like he did his work in/with manga studios (and maybe some photoshop). You can do the same thing/s in photoshop that you could do with manga studios

All I know is, Ross use to work for Tokyo Pop, but quit and he has several books out and two comic series presently running.

Here are some of his work:

Kevin Radthorne

When I ask him what he uses he stated "I use DAZ Studio as my primary tool, working with 3D models. I then do some postwork in Photoshop."  DAZ Studio is a 3d modeling software similar to Maya and/or ZBrush.

Changing and artist

I found another artist that I want to do research on, Jasmine Becket-Griffith. So

Found them and here

Here are some torso muscle and skeletal sketches. Even though drawing the rib cage and the muscle was hard, I kinda enjoy this part the most for some reason. That goes for the eyes as well. When it come to drawing certain things, I enjoy doing eyes the most.

What I notice

The artist I have choosen have some ways (I forgot the other name you would call it) that I pick up on

  1. Mark Ryden uses small children ( who ironicly are naked girls ), Jesus, Mother Mary, and Abraham Lincoln .
  2. Ross Campbell chacthers come off animish, but when it comes to creating his chacthers, he's not as discrimating as other artist
  3. Kevin Radthrone uses digital art. It look similar to maya but then again...

Finally found them

I finally found ( and so sadly just posting) my three artist

Anatomy: Arm

Arm Muscle 1

Arm skeletal

Arm skeletal 2

Arm skeletal 3

Arm muscle 2
This is the anatomy drawings. We have to draw the muscles and bone structure in the arm, and, learn the name of the muscle. The muscle was hard and most the references were digital images and/or drawings that says medical illustration (but I had a feeling that it wasn't). I feel like in science class or a freshman at a med school.

tree images

These are the trees I had to draw. I don't know why, but.....,I love how the bamboo (picture 1 & 3) came out. I really love bamboo the most. But the second one however, I don't favor it. Maybe it should go in the shit pile (or rip up).

introduction

Hello and welcome to my first post. This blog is for my school (probably personal) work. Besides that, introduction. My Hampton-Brown, I'm a IADT student and my major is in Viscom. Other than that, I hope you enjoy my blog and updates will be every now and then.
